I have used a HP4150 (which has bluetooth) to run TomTom Navigator software with a TomTom bluetooth unit. I have also used a garmin geko 201 with the same TomTom software and pda. I would suspect that any buetooth gps unit will work.

To use the geko, I just changed the TomTom setting from bluetooth to serial port and configured the geko to support 2400 baud.

For long trips you will need power to recharge the units. You can use the original power cords and a car inverter. You can also buy custom cables that plug into your vehicle cigarette lighter power socket. (Look at the links on this page for cable info: http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/gps/ )
