Can I make old sprint phone a prepaid through boost mobile?
i\’ve a sprint phone that was disconnected. I think verizon and sprint merged and you can turn on a verizon phone with the boost mobile starter kit. Can I do the same with a sprint phone?

I don’t know where you got your information from. Sprint and Verizon did not merge! Boost is a prepaid service offered by Sprint/Nextel that uses the Nextel type phones. If you have a phone that was disconnected due to lack of payment you will never be able to turn it on until you pay the balance. Your best bet if you want a prepaid is to look at one of the prepaid options that are available in your area.
verizon and sprint didnt merge…….u cant make a sprint phone into a boost prepaid
Sprint phones will only work on sprint network. You can’t use it for boost and you can’t use boost for sprint. Sprint’s strict and lame like that.
The above comments are not true. Boost mobile carries both IDEN and CDMA phones. You can take a phone that was used through Sprint and use it on the BOOST CDMA network which runs off of the Sprint network. Nextel phones run on the Boost IDEN network. Know this is fact as I did it with my Sprint phone.
The other guys are wrong. Yes, you can make virtually any phone that runs on the Sprint network work with Boost mobile! In fact, you can even make some non-Sprint phones work. If you like BlackBerry, Boost now has their own, but you can also get several other models of BlackBerry to work on Boost using conversion kits such as BoostBerry. Search eBay or Google for details. Other phones on the Sprint network can be reprogrammed to work on Boost too and guides and flash programs can be found.
That having been said, there are sometimes limitations. Not all the apps may work the same, there’s generally no customer support available (and Boost isn’t going to help you either), and you could totally mess up your phone’s program so it doesn’t work right at all. So reprogramming your phone should be done at your own risk… But it is possible!
One other thing to keep in mind is that CDMA phones will only work on Boost’s unlimited plans. iDEN phones will work on plans that are not unlimited.
The only thing the other guys got right is that Sprint and Verizon did NOT merge.
I just got a Sprint/Nextel Blackberry 8530. Will that work for Boost with the proper conversion?
u can flash a sprint phone or any other phone for that matter u hvae to use a rebal simscard to flash it
It is true that Sprint and Verizon did not merge. I suspect they want to know if they can make it work on Virgin not Verizon a simple enough mistake. Fortunately Sprint did buy Virgin Mobile USA as well as Boost Mobile and a started a third company assurance cellular which provides basic services plans for people with very little usage and limited income
